House Trip: Local Food Guide to New York City

In association with House Trip I bring you a guide to New York City Food. I went to college in New York City and lived in Manhattan for several years afterward. I currently live only an hour from NYC by train.

I often visit New York City with the sole intention of eating.

My kids are more inclined to spend a "Food Day" in New York than go to museums. We usually plan some type of theme when we visit like an "Italian Day" that will begin at Eataly or now because of House Trip's local food guide to New York recommendations we will be visiting Buon Italia for our take home Italian specialities. Usually we will have pizza for lunch Fat Sal's sounds like classic New York style pizza, can't wait to check it out. After lunch we usually wander around Little Italy in Manhattan and check out the Italian import shops and the cafes, or head up to the Bronx and visit Arthur Avenue which is very close to the Bronx Zoo and the Botanical Gardens.

An Asian themed day would require a trip to Chinatown in Manhattan. A great place to go to get inexpensive holiday gifts and candy. Following shopping we typically pig out on Dim Sum or visit our favorite noodle shop: Bo Ky Restaurant on Bayard St. between Mott St. and Mulberry St.
